Cumbria Police: New Website For Children

Cumbria Constabulary has launched a new website for kids as part of its ongoing burglary campaign.

The new site - www.billtheburglar.org - is based around a fun animation of a distraction burglar called Bill who preys on vulnerable members of the community. It raises awareness of burglary, the need to secure your home and property, and encourages its young visitors to look out for family members and friends.

Officers plan to use the new website in schools across the county during the Constabulary’s six week long burglary campaign to enlist children’s help to spread simple crime prevention messages amongst their families and neighbours.

Safety Tips for Cyclists

Police are appealing for pedal cyclists to take care on Cumbria’s roads, and for motorists to stay alert as the cycling season kicks in.

The six week-long campaign, designed to raise awareness of the steps people need to take to protect their homes and possessions from thieves, will see officers carry out dedicated police patrols in hotspot areas that are often targeted by criminals.  Police will also be displaying posters in key locations in their communities and handing out pocket-sized ‘top tips’ to remind homeowners and motorists to secure their homes and property.
